Compress image to 500KB

Shrink large phone photos under 500 KB while keeping them sharp.

or drop them here · paste with Ctrl+V

What it does

Phone photos are often several megabytes, too big for upload forms that stop at 0.5 MB. Compressing to 500 KB keeps them high quality, good enough for small prints, while usually cutting the size by more than half.

How to use it

  1. Click “Choose images”, drop one or more images onto the box, or paste with Ctrl+V (⌘+V on a Mac).
  2. Each image is brought under 500 KB. If lowering the quality isn’t enough, it’s also scaled down, and a note tells you the new size.
  3. Check the final size next to the download button, then download the file or get everything as a ZIP.

Common uses

  • Uploads with a 0.5 MB limit
  • Sharing high-quality photos by email
  • Property and marketplace listings that need detailed photos

Tips

  • Most phone photos fit under 500 KB with little visible change.
  • If the result is much smaller than 500 KB, the photo was already efficient; no quality was wasted.

Questions

Will the file fit a “500 KB” or “0.5 MB” limit?

Yes. Sites count a kilobyte as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes, so the tool aims below the stricter one, 500,000 bytes, which fits both.

Can I still print the photo?

For small prints such as 10 × 15 cm (4 × 6 in), usually yes. For larger prints keep the original file.
