Compress image to 200KB

Compress photos under 200 KB for email and websites.

or drop them here · paste with Ctrl+V

What it does

At 200 KB a photo still looks sharp across a laptop screen, which makes it a common limit for website uploads, CMS images and email attachments. Compress whole batches at once and download them as a ZIP.

How to use it

  1. Click “Choose images”, drop one or more images onto the box, or paste with Ctrl+V (⌘+V on a Mac).
  2. Each image is brought under 200 KB. If lowering the quality isn’t enough, it’s also scaled down, and a note tells you the new size.
  3. Check the final size next to the download button, then download the file or get everything as a ZIP.

Common uses

  • Images for blog posts and CMS uploads
  • Email newsletters and attachments
  • Photos for online listings and classified ads

Tips

  • For websites, resize to the width the image is shown at (often 1200–1600 px) before compressing.
  • Use “Download all” to compress a whole set of photos in one go.

Questions

Will the quality drop noticeably?

Rarely. For most phone photos 200 KB is enough to look clean on screen; you’d have to zoom in closely to spot the difference.

Why is the compressed file a JPG?

JPG makes photos far smaller than PNG at the same visual quality. To keep a PNG with transparency, use the general Compress Image tool instead.
